Stop unwanted zoom lens sliding! Ever had the problem when taking a shot with a zoom lens downwards that the zoom started an unwanted slide? Some zoom lenses have a build in zoom sliding stop. Like the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, a ring that controls the friction of the zoom lets you easily block the zoom at any position.
But what if your zoom does not have such a solution? Well I have a solution that is simple and cheap. A
rubber wristband
will be your little helper and best friend. Pull a rubber wristband over your zoom lens.
When you simply pull it to one section of your zoom, you still might have your zoom sliding when holding it downwards
the tricky thing is that you have to pull one part of the rubber wristband to a section of the zoom lens that is rotatable and one part that is fixed
and your zoom lens will immediately stop with unwanted sliding.
Warning! Never put the rubber wristband on the focus ring – this might damage the mechanical parts inside your zoom and destroy it. Sensorgraphy.net will not be responsible for any damage trying my tip!
