Making your own photo book with Lightroom and Blurb – Up to now I developed and organized my RAW photos with Apples Aperture. Last christmas I purchased Lightroom in addition. The support that can be found at the internet such as blog-posts, tutorials and forums show that Lightroom seems to be more popular. Of course you can find equivalent support for Aperture, but you have fewer options. What I liked from the first moment I started using Lightroom is and was the RAW development. I will not discuss pros and cons of both applications here.

To use Lightroom in detail needs much more training if you are used to work with Aperture, that is the main reason I can’t stop using Aperture by now. Anyhow as longer as I work with Lightroom, the more I learn, the more I love it. Many of the offered features are available in both applications but how they work is different though.

One of those features is making your own photo book. Apples Aperture is sending the ready to print photo book to Apples own manufacturer by standard. Lightroom chooses blurb for this service. For those following my blog a bit longer might have realized that I have published two books together with my wife using blurb. We have produced both books with blurb’s own software which is free and ready for download.

One major difference is that you can share your book with others and sell copies. You won’t get rich I bet doing so, but you just need to order your own book once, which then is a good opportunity to proof the quality by the way, before you are able to release, share or sell it. And you don’t need to pay anything additional for this service.

Our two books were designed by using blurb’s own software. Having Lightroom installed now gives us another option to create a photo book and order it via blurb. My next project is to try Lightroom’s module to create my own photo book and order it via blurb.

Have you used Lightroom already to make your own photo book and ordered a copy via blurb? What is your experience? Do you have any tips and tricks along? Are you looking for any tips or tricks yourself? Stay tuned in a few weeks I will write a review here how it went for me …

If you like it share it...
